1. Introduction
Name Protection enables domain name locking control to be performed on domain names to prevent unwanted registrar transfer, reseller transfer, DNS changes and domain deletion to be performed by unauthorized party.

The status of Name Protection as following:
  • ACTIVE: Domain names are able to change information, renew and transfer.
  • Protected: Domain name DNS change and transfer (registrar & reseller) is unable to perform. Change of Registrant, contact information and renewal will not be affected.

2. Scope
WebNIC.cc extends the service to:
  • Reseller
  • Enable reseller to perform the Name Protection control at Web Address Manager, Partner Central (http://www.webnic.cc/).
The following names can be PROTECTED:
  • .com/.net
  • .org/.biz
  • .cc/.cn/.us

3. Process
Enable reseller to perform the Name Protection control at:
  • Web Address Manager, Partner Central (http://www.webnic.cc/).
  • Select Name Protection feature.
  • Option "Protect": Domain name will be protected and changes of DNS, transfer and deletion cannot be performed.
  • Option "Activate": Domain name will be activated and ready for DNS changes, transfer and deletion.

4 Policy
  • This feature is being introduced to provide protection from inadvertent changes to domain name, and secure domain name from 'domain transfers' that not authorized by registrant.
  • WebNIC.cc shall LOCK/PROTECT the domain names upon successful registration, and transfer. Reseller however is providing with 'ACTIVE' features at Web Address Manager and able to unlock/activate the domain name online.
  • Resellers are free to lock/protect some or their entire domain names, provided that in doing so they do not contravene the wishes of domain registrant. If this is no long the registrant's wish, the domain name must unlock/activate immediately.
  • Should WebNIC.cc receives reports of this feature is being abused (in particular, applied against a registrants wishes), WebNIC.cc will immediately unlock/activate the domain without further notice. In doing so, registrant may resume control of the domain and we may take corrective action with the offending reseller.
